When you're looking for dating, you must make sure your self-esteem is intact! If you feel embarrassed or ashamed about your disability and you want to find out ways to minimize it as much as possible for your next date, then you are not ready to date, and certainly not ready for a long-term commitment. Only until you completely love and accept yourself, disability and all, can you begin to love and accept another human being. And frankly, you won't fully enjoy a relationship if you're not ready for it. If anything, it will simply add to your stress and anxiety in life.

The irony is those who have just lost a girlfriend or boyfriend often have a tremendous impulse to meet someone new to fill that void. The best strategy, however, is to spend time mourning the relationship; that is the only way you can truly move on from it and eventually welcome someone new into your life.

A last word of advice: relationships take time and energy. If you're pursuing a demanding career or raising children and your relationship doesn't help you do these things, but instead distracts you from them, then it might be time to put love on the side for now.
