The first step in finding your beautiful wedding gown is to determine what style of dress you would like. There are five basic styles of wedding gowns, all beautiful and elegant. Choose a style that fits your personality, flatters your body type, and will make you feel like a princess on you wedding day.

Probably one of the most common choices is the A-line dress, so called because it looks like the capital A. It has a tight bodice and then flares out from the waist. It is also know as the princess dress. Ball gowns are another frequently picked style.

This dress resembles the style of dress that you are used to seeing in the fairy tales and has a very tight bodice and a full skirt. The empire dress is the third type of gown.

An empire waistline starts right under the bust line, and flows down the rest of the dress. This is a classic and beautiful wedding gown style. A more modern style is the sheath or column dress. This dress has a straight line all the way down, and is extremely flattering on smaller brides.

Last but not least there is the mermaid dress which, as you might have guessed, has a skirt that flares right out at the knees similar to the mermaid.

Sleeves And Neckline Considerations.

There is a place for all neckline and sleeve combinations with the correct style dress so there is no hard or fast rule. Each type of neckline can look great with the correct dress, body shape and personality type.

It is best to start off with the wedding dress style that flatters you most and then build the neckline and sleeve around it by just seeing which goes best and ultimately what you are happy with.

We have see a marked increase in the popularity of strapless dresses however sleeveless gowns or spaghetti straps look good on the right dress. Let's not forget that a 3/4 length sleeve and long sleeve can look stunning also.
